An Invitation

Sailing on CAMELOT

Camelot is the home office of iterations, Gail’s and my IP and venture management enterprise.

She embodies the principles, in a compact space and experience, that we believe are essential to making a human place for work and play. She is an exercise in the integration of art, utility and technology. A complete work of architecture on a doable and sustainable scale.

CAMELOT is a member of the American Sail Training Association registered as a class D Tall Ship.

CAMELOT’s mission is to provide “Refreshment of Body and Soul.” Recreation in the re-creation sense - not idle, mindless entertainment so common today.

CAMELOT is maintained and operated by Captain Armour Rice and First Mate Pam Rice who keep her in meticulous condition and continue a 12 year restoration and improvement program.

Gail and I use CAMELOT mostly for working retreats and one-on-one sessions with our associates. Our business, in the broadest sense, is creating, operating and transferring to clients, environments for creativity, collaboration and “Group Genius.”

We find that the venue CAMELOT provides to be an essential node in the network of spaces we use to do this. She is both a haven and a lab.

Given the schedule and demands associated with our work, we rarely get time off. We find that this is typical of many in today’s transition economy. We have discovered that we can mix - easily - work and recreation by a visit to CAMELOT. We find that the venue is essential to contemplative work and bringing new ideas through the nascent stages. We find that we can remain productive and get rest.

PatchWorks Designs was conceived on CAMELOT’s broad decks. Most of our Patent (pending) was written in her aft cabin. Almost every important Joint Venture and major client engagement made in our last five years was facilitated with visits to CAMELOT and Useppa Island.

In total, there are three basic program elements that make up the CAMELOT experience: Rest, sailing and dialog; one-on-one meetings; and, team building via sail training.

To sail all 22 tons of CAMELOT down a crooked narrow channel barely wider than she is - tacking and jibbing under sail alone - drifting to an anchorage, as the sun is setting and wind is shifting, takes a level of coordination and skill that few things do. To do it wrong means to run aground and have to deal with those consequences. To do it right is to end a perfect day on a high that can only come from perfected team performance - then comes drinks, diner, sunset, satisfaction and sleep.

To stay on CAMELOT is to be in nature and to discover your own.

Over the last five years, most of the basic work necessary to configure CAMELOT for her mission has been completed. Until recently, the majority of our time has been spent on rebuilding and upgrading the boat - and, learning how to use her. In addition, we have found safe and interesting cruising grounds compatible with her role. Armour and Pam have perfected the basic program. A great deal of our cruising activities of the last three years have been devoted to developing this venue.

It is time to open the access to CAMELOT to a wider participation of our ValueWeb members. Thus, this invitation.

CAMELOT and crew are ready. There are a variety of experiences available from an afternoon sail to cruising a couple of days to a week or more. All for a daily cost less than staying in an average hotel room at a conventional resort.

CAMELOT is set up to accommodate a couple for an extended time on board. Up to six for afternoon sails. Living, dining and meeting facilities can be provided at Useppa Island the focal point of her US cruising grounds.

Armour and Pam have spent a lifetime cruising and living on board sailboats. They operate CAMELOT very much as their own home. To be their guest is to step into this unique lifestyle for an afternoon or a week.

Gail and I did not save and preserve CAMELOT just for our own use. We desire to share her with our associates. We want to have this experience in common. Many have spent good hours with us on board. Now, we open the opportunity for you to have this experience for yourself and your associates.

Use her for a vacation. For a quite, intense work period. To meet associates in a neutral environment where time and nature are different.

Join Armour and Pam for “refreshment of Body and Soul.”

Take the wheel. Swim, dive, relax, think, dialog, read, sail, renew. Dine at waterside restraunts, explore hidden coves, go out into the ocean until there is nothing but sea and stars.

Learn CAMELOT’s magic and transport yourself to another time/space.

This invitation is open to the MG Taylor ValueWeb members who are active in the KnetWeb network.

Enjoy!
